Games are fun ways to break the ice in baby showers. If you are running out of fun baby shower games ideas, try any or all of these games:

Memory Game

Buy 20 or more small baby items and put all of them inside a large basket. The items may include a pacifier, baby bottle, shampoo, small socks, tweezers, rattle, bib, among other baby things. Let the guests take a look inside the basket for 15 seconds, then take the basket away. With a pen and a piece of paper for each guests, ask them to list as many of the baby items as they can remember. The guest who writes the most baby items remembered wins the game. Give the winner a special prize while present the items in the basket to the mom-to-be.

Pin the pacifier

This fun baby shower game is a variation of the game Pin the Donkey’s Tail. Print out a photo of a baby. Then print and cut out a picture of a pacifier (it’s a great idea to print the pacifier on a paper with adhesive on its other side). Have the blindfolded guests take turn in pinning the pacifier on the baby’s mouth in the photo.

Dress the baby

A competitive but fun game for baby showers where in the guests are divided into two teams. The two teams should race each other in dressing up a baby doll. Whichever team that completely dresses the doll faster wins the game.

Balloon Belly

This is one of the most unique and fun baby shower games. Ask each of the guests to put an inflated balloon under their dresses and shirts. Then throw some beads on the floor and have the guests pick as many beads as possible by bending their bellies. The guest who picks the most number of beads in two minutes without bursting his or her balloon is the winner.

Try these game ideas and you are sure to have a memorable baby shower. Baby shower games need not be complicated. Remember to make the rules easy to follow to make the games more fun.

What’s a baby shower without games? Games are ever-present at baby showers and any other type of shower for that matter. It is a way to get all the guests together and perhaps even get to know one another. It also makes the baby shower enjoyable for everyone present.

There are many baby shower games resources on the internet that you can get for free. You can even try being a bit more creative by inventing some games yourself or even modifying some well-loved childhood games into baby-shower appropriate games.

The internet also provides you, the baby shower planner, with lists of great baby shower games, how they are played, and what materials are needed if any. The suggestions on these sites – many of them baby shower planning sites themselves – are very fun and are quite easy to follow. These are worth checking out.

And since baby showers these days tend to include the husband and the husbands and significant others of the guests, make sure you choose coed baby shower games that could also involve the males in the group. It could be team games that have all-male teams, or male-female teams. It’s up to you.

What to give for prizes?

Prizes don’t have to be big. After all, these are just little fun games. You can all play a game where the prize is food, i.e. winner gets a brownie or cookie. Have plenty of these at hand because even though your guests are adults, they’d still want to win. Other good game prizes are little office supplies such as sticky notes or tape flags.

Fun Baby Shower Games

Baby showers can be quaint tea parties or raucous events reminiscent of the mother-to-be’s younger days. Whichever feel your baby shower takes over, games are a great way to have everyone in attendance participate in the fun and keep the party going.

Good thing there have been a ton of baby showers in the past and many of them have documented and shared their experiences so you have a lot of sources with regards to themes, supplies, food suggestions, and of course, games. As they are done during a baby shower, these games usually involve the pregnant mother and the baby, or having anything to do with babies in general. A lot of the games could involve the men in attendance as well, as baby showers have evolved to include even the dads in the fun.

A little searching online can yield a lot of results. Best of all, these baby shower games are free and if you are on a creative streak you can even personalize it to your own tastes or even modify it as to include couples (like making it a team game of some sort) or boy-girl teams. Co-ed baby shower games make the men feel like a part of the celebration. You’ll be surprised at just how many are willing to participate in such silly games.

Here are some fun baby shower games you may want to try:

· Baby Picture Guessing Game – Have everyone to bring a baby picture of theirs, the youngest version of them that they could find and have people (they could be individuals or partner them up) guess who the person in the picture is. Of course, the owner of the picture is automatically not included for that round where his or her picture comes into play. This is fun because everybody will get to see how everyone looked when they were all so cute and tiny.

· Name as Many Baby Items as You Can – a pen and pad of paper is all you need for this game. Give the participants about a minute or so to write down as many baby items as they can. The one with the most number of items wins the prize.

· Guess Haw Many – this game has two versions. One involves passing around a jar full of safety pins and have everyone guess how many pins are there. The other one involves a large plastic container filled with diapers of the same size and have everyone guess how many diapers there are. In both cases, the person who guesses closest wins the prize.

· Pin the Sperm on the Egg – since everyone at the baby shower is an adult, why not try an adult version of the children’s party classic “Pin the Tail on the Donkey?” The principle is the same, you pin a cardboard cutout of a sperm cell to the egg which is attached to the wall. The person who places the sperm well inside the egg wins!

As baby showers take on the atmosphere only seen in children’s parties, it’s only proper that the prizes are just as fun and young. The prizes for baby shower games don’t have to be expensive or unusual. They can be in the form of candies, small notecards, pens, refrigerator magnets, you get the idea.

Are Free Baby Shower Games Worth Your Time and Effort When Planning For Your Upcoming Baby Shower?

If you know anything at all about planning a baby shower you can say without a doubt that it is no small feat. Including games is near certainly a must and to have free baby shower games has certain pluses and minuses. Let’s take a closer look and learn why.  To plan a baby shower can be a daunting task, there is a lot of preparation and various things you will want to consider, among the most important is the expense you will be expected to prepare for.

After all, baby showers are not just ordinary celebrations that can be executed without proper planning. Consequently, including baby shower games as part of the celebration should be a priority in your planning. The simple fact remains that free baby shower games can be a great “ice-breaker,” to help set the party off to a great start.

With the advent of the Internet, there are many baby shower game ideas online. The best thing about it is that most of the baby shower games available on the Internet are free. Hence, for people who are really tight on the budget, they can get hold of the benefits that free baby shower games can give them.

free baby shower gamesOf course I am sure that you have heard of the old saying, “You get what you pay for…” and with this being said some free baby shower games are not for everybody. With everything else out there, there are people who contend that free baby shower games are not the ideal games to be used in the baby shower. Let’s have a look at some of the disadvantages in regards to free baby shower games

  • Free baby shower games do not look nice.

Many people may contend that the printouts of the free printable baby shower games available online are better than the free baby shower games available in the market. This is because most of the free baby shower games are just ordinary “plain Jane” handouts, and have absolutely no artistic creations embedded in it.

It depends on what your taste is, if you want to make a great impression on your guests you may want to take the extra money required to get something extraordinary, but if you are strapped for funds this may not fall in line with your allotted budget, the choice is yours.

  • Most parents would appreciate it more if you will not use free baby shower games.

Of course there is no hard evidence to support this statement, but the value or the money is not the issue here but on how free baby shower games are used or executed.

Free baby shower games usually lack quality materials, not in all cases but you would be hard pressed to find something that is free with any lasting value, and it would be better not to include them in the party than to make it appear that the event and the preparation was just taken for granted.

  • If you do have a games budget, would it not be better to use low cost baby shower games?

If you have a budget for the baby shower as well as the games, it would be better to use the games that were designed professionally. Besides, baby shower games are not at all expensive when compared to the quality you can expect to receive from free baby shower games.

  • As I mentioned above, you may want to believe in the saying, “you will get what pay for…”

More to the point on this statement, if you have obtained a free baby shower game then you can probably expect something that is not meticulously and artistically created because there are no capitals or investments used to make the creation attractive. In fact most of the time these games are designed and given to you as an incentive to buy a more expensive upgrade and if you obtained a baby shower game that was worth your money chances are you will have quality baby shower games to enjoy in the party.

The bottom line is that baby shower games should not be taken for granted. It does not necessarily mean that free baby shower games are really bad or not worth using. But the fact remains that the event is such a momentous occasion for the parents-to-be, wouldn’t it be better to come up with baby shower games that would reflect the joy and happiness of the people on the arrival of the baby.

A few baby shower games will put the proverbial icing on the cake to your successful baby shower celebration. It could add a little zip to any gathering, and quite literally helps your guests and the perspective parents get acquainted and feel at ease from the get go.  Let’s start off with a few suggestions of some games that might interest you:

The Name Game

The first game I will talk about is called “The Name Game”. Simply have your guests choose two names for the baby. Once they have thought about the names ask them to write them on a piece of paper. Next ask them to find words that can be made from those names. The object of the game is to make as many words from these names as possible.

Give the guests a certain amount of time, as much as may be needed. Now you as the proctor should tell the guests that the minimum number of letters for each constructed word will be three. Explain that words that are made of two or less words will not be counted.

Make sure that your company does not tell the names they have chosen outright. As a twist to the game can be made by having the guests try to guess the original names the players have chosen using the constructed words used. This is sure to be an icebreaker and really help with getting everyone in the festive mood and set the perspective parents at ease. The next game that I will talk about is called:

Feeding Time!

Put a number of cotton balls in a big bowl, and place another empty bowl in front of it. The object of the game is to have the players try to transfer the cotton balls from one bowl to the other while blindfolded. The players will need to do this one at a time. You will want to have them use spoons to transfer the cotton balls.

What makes this baby shower game among other baby shower games a challenge is the fact that the cotton balls are so light, it will actually be really hard to gauge how many ball you are scooping with the spoons. The winner of the game will be the player who is able to transfer the most number of cotton balls per thirty seconds than his/her other opponents. Another blind fold game that you can play is called:

Rice Bowl

You will want to fill a rice bowl half-way with plain, uncooked rice at which point you will then mix in some safety pins (be sure that the safety pins are closed first). Have the guests take turns one at a time at this baby shower game. Blindfold the players and set them right in front of the bowls. The object of the game is to transfer as many safety pins into a different rice bowl within 30 seconds.

Now this is a bit more challenging since the safety pins feel a lot like the rice too. Your guest are sure to have fun with this game as well. Okay, let’s take a different approach now… Though there are many baby shower games to choose from, the next baby shower game that you may want to consider entertaining you guest with is called baby guests. This is a fun game that will have your guest racking their memories with sure delight.

Baby Guests

In your invitation you will have you guests bring along some baby pictures of themselves to the baby shower celebrations. As the guests enter the celebration area, have them give these photos to a secretary who will label them with removable tape at the back and note on a different sheet of paper the identity of the photo.

Be very careful with these photos as they are very important keepsakes. Once you have collected the photos and have marked them you will then furnish the guests with a piece of paper and a pen and show the baby pictures to everyone one by one. The object of the game is to have the guests try to guess the identity of the photo and write it down on their answer sheets. Afterwards, reveal the answers to the quiz.

The person to get the most number of correct guesses wins the game. These are but a few of the dozens of games you could play during the baby shower celebration, and as you can see these are very inexpensive. Make sure these baby shower games foster friendships and, of course, put the newborn baby and perspective parents in the spotlight. This will surely make your baby shower a lot more interesting and memorable.

Cool Baby Shower Themes: Rubber Duckie Baby Shower

If you’re planning to host a baby shower and want a fun idea that symbolizes the innocence of early childhood, consider using a rubber duckie theme. The rubber duckie is timeless and can be very versatile in decorating. Keep reading for our ideas on how to incorporate this cool theme into your next baby shower.

Invitations

This is the first opportunity you have to let your guests in on the theme of the party. Look for invitations with ducks on them, or if you’re feeling creative try creating your own invitations either by hand or with a computer.

Centerpieces

The options for centerpieces are endless! You could use a large glass bowl filled with water and have a large duckie or a few small duckies floating in it. This is also a great option for decorating side tables, using smaller bowls. To add more interest, add some decorative colored stones or even some plastic fish tank plants.

Another centerpiece option is to have a pair of small childrens rubber boots with a small glass in each one. Fill the glasses with water and an assortment of small flowers such as coral bells, pansies, carnations, babies breath, or freesias. The boots will tie in with your rubber duckie theme quite well since ducks are often linked with rainy weather.

Napkins

Scout the stores for napkins with rubber ducks on them. Also, pick up paper plates that match one of the colors in the napkins like yellow or orange. A bright color is best and will help to remind your guests that you are celebrating birth and childhood, when bright colors are best!

The Dreaded Hat

Yes, every guest of honor dreads the hat that is inevitably created from the ribbons and bows scavenged from shower gifts. Instead of using the traditional paper plate, consider using a yellow rain hat!

Cake

Of course it needs to either have a duck on it or be in the shape of a duck! As well, come up with a corny phrase for the occasion to be written on the cake.

Punch Bowl

Forget adding fruit to the ice ring, instead wash up some small rubber ducks and let them float in the punch bowl.

Having any kind of theme for your shower will help to alleviate some of the pressure of entertaining guests while they take in their surroundings. It also helps a shy guest of honor cope with being the center of attention, in this case some of the focus would be drawn toward the duckies.

If you’ve decided to use this theme, go wild with it! Give a special prize to the first guest to sing the Sesame Street Rubber Duckie song! This is a baby shower and the more effort you put into it the more fun your guests and your guest of honor will have. The decorations don’t need to be expensive, a lot of these items can be purchased at a dollar store if you don’t already have them. A few rubber ducks will go a long way!
